A Place Where Nothing Stays
We Had a Lot of Fun Making This Record
Recorded at The Blasting Room Studios in Ft. Collins, CO, I was fortunate to work with my friend and producer, Phil Norman—a full-time cellist and studio veteran. Years ago, Phil told me, “If you ever get a chance to record at The Blasting Room, do it.” Fast forward, and here we are.
I connected with Chris Beeble, a sound engineer at The Blasting Room, through Phil. Chris started as an intern, often crashing on the studio couch after late nights of setting up gear, wrapping cables, and managing the books. He worked his way up, and now he runs the intern program, oversees engineering, and helps manage the business. He’s been here ever since—living his dream job.
Phil and I started with one song—Deep Soft Weight—before deciding to record the rest of the album in the same space. That track turned out so well, it made the decision easy. Months later, we had “A Place Where Nothing Stays.” A big step forward from This Shimmering Space, which Phil also produced.
Now, I’m back at The Blasting Room, working on a new single and EP with the same trio. Looking forward to making some new music.
Hope you enjoy this record as much as we loved making it. On to the next. 🙌
Cheers,
Travis
